What's New for 2023?
The Volvo XC90 rolls into the new model year with a bevy of updates, including new B5 and B6 mild-hybrid powertrains and a cutting-edge Google Built-In infotainment system. The XC90 also replaces its Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription trims with new Core, Plus, and Ultimate tiers that are more indicative of their place in the lineup.
Performance
For the 2023 model year, Volvo has swapped its turbocharged T5 and twincharged T6 engines with B5 (247 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque) and B6 (295 hp, 310 lb-ft) mild-hybrid variants. These new powertrains equip a small motor and battery to capture energy from braking that would otherwise be lost and redeploy it to assist the engine during situations of higher workload like ignition and stop-starting. The result is reduced fuel consumption and emissions and smoother acceleration. All-wheel drive is now standard across the lineup for improved handling and all-season control.
The 2023 XC90 is also available as a Volvo Recharge model, adding a larger electric motor to the twincharged engine setup for an authoritative 455 horsepower and 523 pound-feet of torque. An upgraded 18.8-kWh battery enables an estimated 35 miles of pure-electric range.

The XC90's 9-inch touchscreen is now powered by Google Built-in.
